Mouth Gag can hold the jaws wide open blocked by the ratchet lock. To release, simply use the lever.
Note: As with most GA equipment needed is common sense when using the Jennings gag, so do not attempt to open the paragraph too much or leave it in your mouth for too long. Remember that these items were designed as medical / dental. You can not expect that they will be perfectly safe (although, depending on the size and shape of the jaw and teeth of the person may be effective in some cases).
